Sam’s adoption is pending!
Sam came to BRBCR two months after his longtime owner suffered a massive stroke and it was determined he would not be returning to his former life.
Sam is completely housebroken and very mannerly. His former owner took him everywhere, including on camping trips. At his foster home, Sam gets along with the other dogs, the chickens, and the cats. Occasionally, he thinks about maybe chasing a cat, but, a simple no stops him. He probably never was exposed to cats previously.
Sam loves to tag along and supervise while his person does yard work. He has come along off leash on several “pack walks” through the woods. Inside, he is content to curl up in a bed or crate close to his person.
He does have some shoulder arthritis and is on medication to keep him comfortable. He has no problem with a few steps up to the porch, but flights of stairs should be avoided. He loves easy, rambling walking, but long or difficult hikes should be avoided.
Sam was somewhat overweight when he came to his foster home, but is now in good body condition. He does tend to look sad and pitiful when he thinks it might earn him some extra food or treats, but his foster mom is firm about this. His vet records show frequent weight gains and losses over his ten years….maybe his former owner was a sucker for those sad eyes!
Sam would make a wonderful, easy going companion.
To start the adoption process, please fill out our application and contact Sam’s foster mom, Kay, at FaithandQuest2@gmail.com. All potential adopters are required to have a home visit prior to placement of one of our rescues, and we offer a two-week trial period when you adopt one of our dogs.
