About Opal

WEIGHT: 10 lbs
COAT: Smooth Coat
COLOR: Tri Colored
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active Companion

Meet Opal! She is an 8-week-old BC/Kelpie mix, born on Valentines Day 2024; a puppy from the “gemstones” of another BRBCR foster dog, Diamond. Opal is spunky! She has a big sense of adventure which pairs nicely with a large desire to cuddle. Opal is the first pup in someone’s lap! She loves to explore new people & environments- she’s fearless!

Opal has been exposed to both cats and dogs and socializes well with both. Opal will need to learn to give cats space but is responding well when on a leash thus far. She is tentative with new dogs, giving LOTS of tail wags. She is demonstrating some “alpha” tendencies with her littermate and takes human and puppy corrections well.

Opal is very food motivated, which has helped greatly in her training. She is mostly crate, leash, and potty trained (she will whimper to go outside, and voluntarily enter her crate when she is tired). Opal has been working on basics such as “sit” and “leave it” and still needs some work on her recall. She has also done very well with some preliminary nose touch, or target training. She will do best in a home with a fenced yard and will require ongoing puppy training to lay a good behavioral foundation.
Opal has had her first round of shots and deworming and will need two more sets
before she is fully vaccinated.

If you are interested in adopting Opal, please fill out an application. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Opal’s adoption fee is $300. Since she is too young to be altered at this time, the Adoption Contract will include a Spay/Neuter Agreement which requires a deposit of $150 (to be refunded when veterinary proof of alteration has been provided).
