About Onyx

WEIGHT: 10 lbs
COAT: Medium
COLOR: Black and white
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active Companion

Meet Onyx! She is an 8-week-old BC/Kelpie mix, born on Valentines Day 2024; a puppy from the “gemstones” of another BRBCR foster dog, Diamond. Onyx is cautiously curious, and OH so sweet! She loves to explore new environments and meet new people. She has a longer, curly coat that makes her absolutely irresistible- it is truly a delight to give her plenty of puppy cuddles, and everyone that meets her falls hard in puppy love.

Onyx has been exposed to both cats and dogs and socializes well with both. She knows to give a cat the space it needs to be comfortable getting to know her and is submissive to other dogs with LOTS of play bows and tail wags.

Onyx is very food motivated, which has made training her a breeze. She is mostly crate, leash, and potty trained (she will whimper to go outside, and voluntarily enter her crate when she is tired). She is also learning to sit and “leave it” and has outstanding recall. She will do best in a home with a fenced yard and will require ongoing puppy training to lay a good behavioral foundation.

Onyx has had her first round of shots and deworming and will need two more sets before she is fully vaccinated.

If you are interested in adopting Onyx, please fill out an application. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Onyx’s adoption fee is $300. Since she is too young to be altered at this time, the Adoption Contract will include a Spay/Neuter Agreement which requires a deposit of $150 (to be refunded when veterinary proof of alteration has been provided).

Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
