Meet Louise!
Louise is one of the cattle dog litter. She is everything you’d expect from a cattle dog puppy! Rambunctious and smart, with an attitude. She is currently living with a house full of animals at her foster home, and she loves playing with the other dogs. While she has not attacked the cats or the chickens, she will chase them. Thus far she calls off of both the cats and chickens, but this will need to be worked on steadily as she gets older if she will be around either. She has not chased the horses, but she has stopped to give them a piece of her mind a couple of times – definitely has the cattle dog attitude.
Two of the cattle dog puppies came to Durham, and Louise is the more energetic of the duo. She can keep up with the adult dogs for a couple of miles already, and fights to be let down when her foster tries to carry her to give her a break. She is extremely handler-focused, and I believe she will make an exceptional working gal, sport dog, or very solid hiking partner if someone can keep up with her. She loves her doggy house-mates, and may be a hand-full if she is an only pup. I do think she will be a problem-child if she is not given a consistent outlet for her energy and enthusiasm. That being said, she has won over everyone she has met, and after she’s run herself out she loves to cuddle up with her people and pup roommates on the couch in the evening.
If you are interested in adopting Louise, please fill out an application and contact her foster parent at lauraanne919@gmail.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.
Louise’s adoption fee is $350. Since she is too young to be altered at this time, the Adoption Contract will include a Spay/Neuter Agreement which requires a deposit of $150 (to be refunded when veterinary proof of alteration has been provided).
