Meet Rusty!
Rusty is a handsome, 9-month-old puppy who came into the rescue as an owner surrender. He is a medium energy Border Collie that is good with other dogs and dog savvy children over 8 years old. His smooth shiny coat is easy to care for with daily brushing.
Rusty is a little shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly if you have treats! He attends doggy daycare and plays well with dogs of all sizes. He loves to chase and herd the other dogs when we play ball, he will chase the ball but does not always bring it back. He enjoys snuffle mats, the giggle ball, and squeaky toys. He will settle in his crate but prefers to be with his herd. Being young you still need to put him out for potty breaks every few hours.
Rusty is food motivated which makes training this smart boy easy. He walks OK on a leash and has a decent off leash recall; he would benefit from a basic obedience class. He rides quietly in the car and was good when he visited Tractor Supply. This boy has a nice off switch with proper exercise and mental stimulation. He enjoys working puzzles for treats and will snuggle on the couch or happily sleep in his dog bed while you watch TV.
A home with space to romp, regular exercise, and mental stimulation will help him thrive. Rusty is UTD on shots, heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and is microchipped. He is an intelligent boy that will be a devoted, loyal companion for anyone with an active lifestyle.

If you are the perfect forever home for Rusty, please fill out an application and contact his foster parents at tinagrove@ymail.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.
Rusty’s adoption fee is $300.
