Meet Pixie!
*IF* you have the time to invest in exercise, training and mental stimulation, this active, but sweet puppy may be a great partner! At 8 months old, she is still very much a puppy and added to the teenage stage, she will keep you BUSY! She does have an off switch if she has been appropriately stimulated during the day. Pixie was a surrender from an outside kennel situation so she did not get early social interaction and will bark at loud sounds and new people. Her adopters should be prepared to continue socialization. Despite her overabundance of enthusiasm, Pixie is a soft dog and does not (should not) need a strong correction. She is very food motivated—perfect for training tricks or sports.
Belly rubs – Pixie will flip over frequently to get her belly rubs, but she is so wiggly it doesn’t last long.
Housetrained? – Maybe, she hasn’t had an accident for weeks now, but she is on a strict walking schedule, so she has plenty of opportunities to go outside. She will get distracted when outside and forget to go, so she needs careful monitoring.
Licker – Pixie can’t hold her licker – always wants to lick your hand or your face if you bend down. Be prepared.
Pixie is crate-trained and sleeps quietly through the night. She also rides in a crate in the car but does have car sickness (a LOT of drool). Pixie is obsessed with one of my cats (she would not hurt him but just wants to stare and follow, with a bit of chase) so a home without cats might be best (for the cat).
Pixie would love to find a home with humans that will keep her active and out of trouble. A couple walks a day will NOT be enough for this busy, busy girl. Because Pixie doesn’t know her own strength at times, she will not be adopted into a home with children less than 10 years of age.
If you are the perfect forever home for Pixie, please fill out an application and contact her foster parents at karinmaida@aol.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.
Pixie’s adoption fee is $300.
