Meet Fawni

Fawni is a sweet, VERY exuberant, mixed breed puppy found as a stray. Guesses as to the breeds that have contributed to this delightful mixey-mix have included English Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Lab, and Aussie. There isn’t a mean bone in her body, and she loves everyone. Her personality reminds me of a Golden Retriever or Lab – very happy, high-energy puppy exuberance, and she wants to be involved in whatever is happening. Even though she is still a puppy, she has a good off-switch if she has enough exercise and mental stimulation during the day. But don’t forget she needs to expend her puppy energy to get that off switch.Fawni will be happiest in a home with at least one other dog and humans that are home a majority of the time. She will go in a crate if treats are thrown in first, but it’s not her favorite place. She will need continued crate games to help her feel more comfortable in a crate. You will also need to be prepared to wait her out while she barks her displeasure of being in the crate – but her barking is gradually becoming shorter. She can play quite energetically so I recommend children above 10 years old, and any dog friends should be tolerant of an aggressive play style. (Seriously, the NFL should draft her as a linebacker!) She would love to play and chase a cat, but she has been taught by my cats to leave them alone.

Fawni is a pretty typical puppy and still needs all the training required to be the best dog – sit, stay, lie down, impulse control and recalls. I will want her adopters to attend a puppy manners class with her so she can learn great life skills and to focus in a distracting environment. She loves food and treats and responds well to positive training. She is doing well with house training and has no accidents IF she is taken outside enough to do her business. She will pull like a freight train to greet new people/dogs. She could be a fun dog for nosework classes since she likes to sniff out new scents.
Fawni is heartworm and lyme negative, spayed, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations.
