About Bandit

Meet Bandit!

Bandit is a handsome young man (suspect about 1.5 years old) weighing a muscular 37 pounds who found himself on a lavender farm in Tennessee. He took a few weeks to be coaxed inside there and then joined BRBCR to work on building his confidence and trust in people. Bandit is neutered and up to date on his core vaccines. Bandit was positive for Erlichia (a tick borne disease) and has completed treatment for it.

Bandit is slow to warm up to people, but once he does, he forms a strong bond with them. Bandit has been working hard on confidence building activities and isn’t phased by anything in the house now including cats, vacuums, etc. While in the house he likes to stay nearby but is not a big cuddler or into physical affection unless it’s on his terms. When he does want attention, he very gently nuzzles his nose into your hand to ask for pets and will tenderly place his paw on your arm if you stop before he was ready. Bandit has been tested with adults of all genders, a teenager, and a calm 4-year-old kiddo. He does best with people with calm personalities of any gender or age.

Outside of the house, Bandit shouldn’t be trusted off leash at this time unless in an enclosed/fully fenced yard. He can be spooked by the sudden noise of cars passing by and lawnmowers near the house. He’s made great strides in this area but will need more positive exposure moving forward and ultimately may do best in a quieter neighborhood or country home. He doesn’t seem to mind thunderstorms or loud noises in the house once he feels comfortable in the environment.

Bandit would thrive in a quiet household with or without a friendly dog to play with. He absolutely loves playing with his Aussie foster brother and has a rambunctious play style. He is very appropriate with his older foster siblings that don’t want to play though and will either avoid them or lay quietly near them. Bandit wasn’t interested in toys initially but now that he has settled into his foster home, he has begun showing an interest in toys including chuck it balls and WestPaw Design toys (firm rubber). He has also picked up stuffed toys to play with a few times. His favorite toys are the ones that his foster brother is playing with but waits until he is done playing with it rather than trying to steal it.

If you are the perfect forever home for Bandit, please fill out an application and contact his foster parents at amoredvm@gmail.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Bandit’s adoption fee is $300.
