Meet Diamond!

This sweet, gentle soul was a stray in West Virginia. She was rather traumatized when caught and placed in a shelter, and it turned out she was pregnant, too!  She was truly a “Diamond in rough” when transferred into rescue.

Diamond is still being “polished” and has shown so much improvement since she arrived. She bonded quickly to her foster mom and has learned to trust people again. She’s a calm, quiet, affectionate, little dog! She lays down close to her foster mom when inside.  When she’s outside, she’s playful, loves to take all her toys & bones to one spot in the yard.  She really likes toys stuffed with treats!!

Diamond now walks perfectly on leash – no pulling! She’s been to other farms, parks, and dog trials and has done well. She’s learned sit, lie down, and go to bed. She loves having her own bed for naps and sleeps quietly in her crate at night.

Diamond still needs confidence building. She will submissively pee when first meeting new people, unless they have treats. She’s very food motivated and learns things fast, especially when food is involved. Diamond is a happy girl, she seems shy at first, but will quickly fit in once she’s comfortable. She jumps into a crate in her foster mom’s van to go for rides. She’s good with cats, other dogs, and has been sweet with the well-behaved children she’s met.

Her foster mom reports her as being ‘an easy keeper’ and will make a great pet for a family that is calm, wants a dog to love on, and that loves to go for walks with their dog.  Her recall needs improving, so a fenced yard is highly recommended.

Diamond is spayed, up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative, on flea & tick preventative, and microchipped. She was tested for heartworms and tick diseases.  She is heartworm negative but did test positive for a common tick disease, she has finished her antibiotic treatment for that.

If you are the perfect forever home for Diamond, please fill out an application and contact her foster mom at sylviaspets@aol.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Diamond’s adoption fee is $300.
