Meet Mya!
Meet Mya, A striking black and white Australian Shepherd mix with a sleek short coat and amber eyes, this sweet girl is the perfect blend of gentle affection and classic Aussie confidence. She came into foster care as an owner surrender due to changes in living circumstances, and she’s now ready for a fresh start with a family who understands her breed’s instincts and her soft heart.
Personality & Behavior
- A little shy with new people, but she warms up quickly once she knows you’re safe.
- True “Bossy Aussie” — she has that typical stranger danger instinct and likes to supervise her world.
- Great with other dogs when introduced properly.
- She isn’t interested in toys — she’s more of a people focused companion.
- Loves belly rubs, snuggles, giving kisses and couch time more than anything.
- Crate trained, shows some barrier aggression towards other dogs when crated, but calms down once everyone settles in their crates.
- She knows how to use the dog door into the fenced yard.
Health & Activity
- She arrived at 60 lbs. and is currently on a diet and exercise program to help her reach a healthier weight of around 50 lbs. She enjoys activity but isn’t hyper — she’s happy with walks, yard time, and hanging out with her people.
- She’s not afraid of water, though she hasn’t quite decided whether the pool sun deck is worth exploring.
- Walks great on a leash and rides nicely in the car.
Ideal home she’ll thrive with:
- A patient adopter who understands her initial shyness
- Someone familiar with Aussie traits and boundaries
- A home that values companionship, routine, and gentle structure
- A family who loves cuddles as much as she does
- Another furry family member is a plus
- Single family home with a yard, preferably fenced
