Meet Ghost!

This handsome man was surrendered to BRBCR due to his family having a newborn and too many dogs. Ghost will be a wonderful family dog (if you don’t mind a few border collie quirks). He is very loving to humans, takes treats gently, and has good energy (long walks would be awesome), but can also chill in the house. He is house-trained if he doesn’t get distracted outside and forgets to “do his business.” On walks, he will pull on the leash if the other dogs are ahead, but if he is alone, he walks with a more relaxed leash. He is quiet in his crate overnight but prefers to wait until a few treats are thrown in the crate before he enters. While he can be sound sensitive, interestingly, thunderstorms did not bother him. He loves to bring his toy back to you for a never-ending game of fetch (see below). One of his quirks is his love and excitement for television! Rapid activity, loud noises, balls, and animals on the TV excite him, and he will jump at the TV (make sure your TV is high enough so he doesn’t ‘bop’ it with his nose!).

Ghost may do best in a single dog household or a home with a submissive dog. If there is canine chaos in the house, he can make bad decisions (he has been fine in my home, but I think it is because my dogs are somewhat submissive and very experienced with foster dogs coming and going). Ghost has been fine with cats. It is unknown how he is with children but based on his personality he *should* be OK with respectful children. At this time, he still needs recall training so a fenced yard would be helpful, or all walks must be on a leash or long line.

Ghost is full vetted, neutered, and up to date on his monthly flea and tick treatment. We were told that he needs to eat grain-free food by his previous owners because otherwise he will itch. He was also recently diagnosed with very mild hip dysplasia after we noticed some slight limping. The vet’s opinion is that he may never show serious signs if kept lean and muscular and receives a daily joint supplement (note: this also means that serious sport competition is not recommended, and fetch sessions should be avoided or very short.).

Ghost has been a very easy foster, and this good boy deserves to be doted upon.

If you are the perfect forever home for Ghost, please fill out an application and contact his foster parents at jklrsn@gmail.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Ghost’s adoption fee is $300.

Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
