Meet Cricket!

Crikey, she is a cutie! Crick, Creek, Cracker – whatever you want to call her is as sweet as they come! Cricket was found roaming in a very rural area and found herself in a shelter needing saved. Cricket is still very much a puppy, learning all about rules and manners (both still need work) and also learning that she can rely on her person and no longer has to fend for herself.

Cricket is a tiny girl, maybe about 16-17 inches tall, and is super slim which makes her fast, quick, and agile! She is insanely food motivated which makes training fun and engaging for her. She doesn’t have any toy drive right now, something that we’re working on, but once she has that the sky will be the limit! Cricket knows sit, down, and her recall is starting to come along! She has graduated to the longline being able to drag on the ground behind her instead of her foster holding onto it – progress!

Cricket does well with her foster siblings, there’s 5 of them, but would probably do better being a part of a smaller pack. She isn’t a submissive dog that will back down from another dog and would do best with a submissive or neutral dog or two to live with permanently. She hasn’t shown much interest in the resident cat so she would probably do fine with dog-savvy cats that don’t bolt. Cricket does have prey drive when it comes to squirrels and rabbits in the yard and wants to chase (her leave-it command is coming along). Because of her prey drive a fenced-in yard would be best because sometimes those big ears don’t work!

The ideal home for Cricket is active – she is a busy body! With her food drive, she may make a good candidate for sports someday! She could also be an awesome adventure buddy – think long runs and hiking high peaks! She just isn’t a couch potato. Her foster mom works from home and she does a really good job relaxing while she’s on the computer – a good coworker!

Cricket will be spayed prior to adoption. Since she is under a year old and has the potential for sports we’re keeping her intact until the right home comes along.

If you are the perfect forever home for Cricket, please fill out an application and contact her foster parents at meganstahlnecker@yahoo.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Cricket’s adoption fee is $350.
