Meet Angi!
This sweet little girl is hoping to find a calm home with an adopter who is also calm and enjoys training quirky dogs! Angi is a nervous, high-energy dog that needs someone to bring out her confidence with positive reinforcement training. Basically, she is a puppy in an adult body and needs an experienced adopter to show her the experiences and training that she missed as a puppy. Angi was surrendered to a shelter from a situation where she was living outside under a porch. Despite her past, she tries hard, and I believe that she can become a great dog with a future in sports, if desired.
Angi is too focused on cats to calmly live with one (she will run around my house looking for my 2 cats), and her nervous energy also will not mix well with young children. She has done well with her 3 foster siblings, but they tolerate her like an obnoxious puppy. She plays with them awkwardly but takes canine corrections well. She is learning to play with Jolly Balls and always tries to be the first to the thrown balls and also body blocks another dog who gets to the other balls. Hence, her new home should have a tolerant sibling(s).
Angi is very smart and learned to sit in one session. Although at first resistant, she is now easy to crate because she has been fed in the crate and gets a lot of treats for going in her crate. She likes to be brushed and petted but is not a cuddler at this time. She has mastered housetraining in record time but needs much more work on leash training. She calms nicely after dinner if she has been busy during the day. Angi loves being with her family and shows her displeasure by barking when separated, but she usually quiets after a few minutes.
Angi has come a long way in her first month, and she will continue to improve! I see a lot of potential in Angi if you are ready for the challenge!
If you are the perfect forever home for Angi, please fill out an application and contact her foster parents at jklrsn@gmail.com. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.
Angi’s adoption fee is $350.
