Meet Petunia!

Petunia, aka Sweet P, is one of three puppies who came to Blue Ridge Border Collie Rescue with their mother, Nelli, when they were 8 weeks old. It is clear that she was raised in a home with lots of handling and love because she is very well socialized and ready for any adventure. She will happily approach people and other dogs, though at her size she’s only allowed to meet the adult dogs through a fence. She keeps up with her sisters, but when the games get too rough, she’ll sit off to the side, waiting for them to get a little calmer. However, she is not above a surprise attack now and again and will likely get bolder when she’s not with her sisters.

It is too early to predict exactly how Petunia will mature, but I expect her to be a lovely, active companion. She’s a little fluffier than her sisters, so her coat may be long. As with all puppies, she will need lots of socialization to learn to be a well-adjusted confident dog. She is currently eating 3 meals a day and is not house trained, so her new family will need to be able to accommodate her extra puppy needs. Border collie and/or puppy experience is preferred. Petunia is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations and worming, but will need additional vet visits to be fully vaccinated.

If you are interested in adopting Petunia, please fill out an application and contact her foster parent at cathy.kinzie@verizon.net. BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Petunia’s adoption fee is $350. Since she is too young to be altered at this time, the Adoption Contract will include a Spay/Neuter Agreement which requires a deposit of $150 (to be refunded when veterinary proof of alteration has been provided).
