Meet Brisk!

Brisk is an adorable, 1-year-old border collie ready for a new adventure! Unfortunately, Brisk lost his home due to a divorce. He previously lived with two small children, an older dog, and a cat. Brisk is an extremely happy and friendly young fellow; sometimes, his enthusiasm and energy are endless!

Brisk really wants to please and tries very hard to be a good dog. At his foster home, he gets along great with all the other dogs and the cats. He requires strict supervision around chickens and should probably not go to a home with poultry or small animals – too tempting for a young, exuberant guy to chase and try to catch them! Although he lived with small children, he would do better with older kids who are less likely to be knocked down by his displays of affection and can help teach him to curb his enthusiasm.

Brisk has a good recall and knows some basic commands such as sit and get back. He is definitely a work in progress, and his training should be ongoing. While he has a decent recall he would do best with a fenced in yard; he tends to get distracted easily. Brisk could be a great beginner sport prospect; you could learn together! As long as he has an active life, he will be a happy boy!

Brisk likes to play fetch, however, he tends to play “keep away.” He does not exhibit any resource guarding tendencies. Brisk has also shown some interest in herding but would require an experienced trainer to show him the ropes.

BRBCR’s approval process includes phone interviews, reference checks, and a home visit prior to meeting a foster dog. Approved applicants must meet at the foster dog’s location. Every adoption begins with a 2-week trial period.

Brisk’s adoption fee is $300.
