Rocky is a very good natured, friendly dog who would make a great companion for an active person. Before Rocky came to BRBCR, he had lived in a small outside pen all his life, became very overweight, and had no training. For a dog who is as people oriented as Rocky, this must have been extremely hard on him. Now in his foster home, he gets along well with other dogs, is non reactive, and enjoys playing. He is learning how to be a house pet, and has only had a couple of accidents, but is now calm and easy to be around. He is doing well learning to sit to greet, wait at doors and gates, and is working on not using his mouth to demand attention. He is now crate trained, but is left in our mud room when we leave. He rides well in a crate in the car, and enjoys car rides. He learns fairly quickly, and tries to be a good boy. While he was adapting to his new indoor life, he had some anxiety about being left, but as he has learned to trust, he has relaxed and is no longer anxious. He never leaves your side, and wants to be your best buddy. Rocky is fairly bossy, so he would do best with someone who is more of an in charge person who will give Rocky the leadership he needs. Because of his size, bossiness, and mouthiness, Rocky is suitable only for children over 12 years of age. Rocky has a lot of physical stamina, takes a lot of joy in running hard, and would like to find a home where he can get a lot of regular exercise, a good run every day and spend time outside with his owners.
