Holly is a cute little 5-year-old, purebred, red merle, female BC (She kind of reminds me of a little fox). Before Holly came to BRBCR, she lived with her family and three other dogs. Holly was purchased from a breeder. Holly bonded with the people in her household, but unfortunately was aggressive to an older smaller female dog. Over the last two years, things became progressively worse between Holly and the other dog. The family had to keep all the dogs separated and rotate them, which became difficult over time, and the owner sought the assistance of a rescue to find a good home for Holly.
Holly is house trained and vocal when she needs to go out. She wants someone to walk with her into the yard which is good because she kind of likes to dig. She recalls very well, walks on a leash nicely, and knows basic commands (sit, down, stay, come, leave it, etc.).
If you are a proponent of crate training, you should know that Holly does not like being in crates, and whimpers when she is crated. However, she has needed to be crated because she cannot be left unsupervised with other dogs. Currently, there is usually someone at home all day, so we have not needed to utilize it too much. Other than aggression toward other dogs, we have not observed any serious problem or behaviors.
She is a particularly good alarm dog as she barks at anyone walking past our home, but easily quiets when you command her to stop. She loves to play and catch things, especially balls, and she is quite good at it. She spends most of her day curled up near me while I work, and she is pretty quiet and laid back.
Holly does not get along well with other dogs. She exhibits the same behaviors in her foster home that she had in her previous home. Therefore, Holly will only be adopted to a home where she is and will be the only dog. We have a cat and she seems ok with him. Although, I have not observed Holly around small children, she should not be adopted to a home with small children. We have a teenager and she would be fine in a home with older children. We have a fenced in yard, but she likes to dig and needs supervision.
If you are interested in adopting Holly, please fill out an application and then contact her foster parents, Princy Doss and Scott Fullen at firstname.lastname@example.org. All potential adopters are required to have a home visit prior to placement of one of our rescues. Holly's adoption fee is $300, and we offer a two-week trial period when you adopt one of our dogs.
Thank you for considering a rescue!
