Duke is a very athletic and sweet boy. He is motivated by love and affirmation, although he appreciates treats. Duke used to live on a farm where he worked sheep and goats. The farmer passed away leaving his wife to care for Duke and his brother, Coy, which was a lot to handle. Duke was kept outside in a kennel and not housebroken or played with. We have been working with him for a couple of weeks and he is a quick learner.
Duke recalls well. He knows 'sit' and 'down' commands. He quickly learned to potty in the wooded boundary of our yard by watching and picking up on the behavior of our BC. Duke has good walking on-leash manners. He behaves well around our dog-savvy cat. We have a teenager and he is great with him, but I can't speak about younger children yet. He is learning to wait at the door when I open it.
Duke is very high energy. He is transitioning to be an inside pet. He will need a home that gives him the opportunity to play or run hard. He wasn't familiar with toys before we fostered him, but he is starting take interest in frisbee and fetching a ball. Duke is really fast and I think he would be awesome at agility and/or flyball. He really enjoys running with me. He stays close by our side.
Duke is neutered and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.
