Josie is a five-year-old purebred Border Collie, and is just an all-around lovely girl. Her momma was forced by health issues to give her up, but before that, Josie enjoyed an active life that included lots of training. She is perfect in the house, walks beautifully on a leash, has an excellent recall when off lead, and has even had foundation work in agility and some exposure to livestock. She's smart, agreeable, food motivated, and has quickly learned her new routine. Her foster family finds her very easy to live with!
With people, Josie is not a cuddler, but she likes to hang close to her humans and enjoys a reassuring scritch and pat to remind her that she is a Very Good Girl.
With dogs, she is definitely an alpha, taking a certain amount of pleasure in asserting herself by trying all the dog beds and winning at fetch. That said, she's never a bully. She will drop the ball when asked by the human, allowing another dog to complete the fetch -- actually her preferred system, which her foster pack has found pretty entertaining. And despite her Goldilocks-like penchant for sleeping in other dogs' spaces, there have been no squabbles in her foster home -- she lets the betas have their beds when they need them.
Josie is good with cats and smaller dogs and safe around poultry. She has not been tested with children, but given her preference for personal space (and her need for regular, energetic play), children of potential adopters should probably be old enough to wield a Chuck-it for at least 20 minutes at a time. ;)
Josie is spayed and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.
To start the adoption process, please fill out our application and contact Josie's foster mom, Felicity Lien, at email@example.com. All potential adopters are required to have a home visit prior to placement of one of our rescues. Josie's adoption fee is $300, and we offer a two-week trial period when you adopt one of our dogs.
