Meet Molly!

Miss Molly is a very affectionate, sweet girl that was picked up by animal control in southern Virginia. She had been sprayed by a skunk...(Phew!I wonder if that's why her owner's didn't want her back??). She has had numerous baths here at her foster home and is becoming more "sweet" (smelling) to be around. She is 4 years old.

Molly is an active girl. When outside, she loves her toys and loves to run a few circles around the yard with a toy in her mouth. But inside, she's calm and laid back, loves to cuddle on the couch, sleep on her dog bed or curl up next to you where ever you are. Molly has been a house dog and is completely housebroken. Her morning routine starts with her going outside with some toys and other dogs to play with. Then she comes in the house and has her breakfast. She will sit, lie down, and loves her rewards for doing so - which can be kibble from her breakfast.or a tasty dog treat.

She's a pretty good catch of treats and tennis balls. Molly then hangs out around the house, sometimes she'll go get a toy out of her toy basket. Later, she goes back outside, but prefers to be inside with people. She loves people!!! She gets very excited when meeting new people. And she wants to be with people. She also loves treats, dog bones, chewies and of course, her toys. She like to nurture her toys and seldom chews them up. She is fine with being left out once she feels comfortable in her home.

Molly is a fun and easy dog to take care of, once she has adjusted to her new home. It took about a week for her to adjust here at her foster home. She had been in a shelter, which really upset her. Her first days here she was very unsure of what's going on and had some separation anxiety. That's to be expected. She shivered and barked in a crate - (she was kept in a crate until she could be trusted loose). She chewed her feet - another anxiety behavior. Now, Molly is an angel. She's active when you want her to be, yet calm when there's nothing going on. She's a happy, confident dog now, after being here for several weeks.

We don't know for sure, but we are guessing that Molly is a Border Collie x Black Labrador cross. She certainly has a lot of Labrador traits - shiny short hair coat, sweet, friendly nature, loves toys, retrieves, and she has the smarts of both breeds. She has a fine white stripe up her nose, some white around her collar, four white socks and a white time on her tail like a lot of Border Collies. Her energy level is moderate, meaning she will play ball, but doesn't have endless energy, she settles down fast and is not a busy dog, like that of some Border Collies. We think she's a great combo of both breeds!!!

Molly is housebroken, up to date on all her shots, dewormed, tested for heartworm & tick diseases and spayed. She did test positive for lyme, but has finished her antibiotic to be taken for lyme treatment. She gets along well with all the dogs here at her foster home. She's not fond of another dog near her food dish when it's full, but she's getting better as she learns that no one is going to eat her rations.

Molly would love to have a fenced yard and a basket full of toys. Having another dog friend would be a bonus for her, but she's fine as an only dog, too. CLICK HERE to see a short video.
