This cutie has been a very interesting foster. She was picked up as a stray but obviously was well cared for. She immediately came in and went to a comfy dog bed and is also crate trained. It appears that she went to obedience classes as she knows how to sit when you stop on leash and is also familiar with other obedience commands.
On the less fortunate side she has learned to play keep away and immediately backed away and play bowed when she was loose in the yard outside. She also doesn't want to come out of her crate or go through doors. It appears that she has been chased and grabbed at so she stays just out of reach when she's concerned. She's very friendly and cheerful but has formed a bad habit. Dragging a light line has worked well with her and she's making progress but will need continuing reinforcement to establish trust and help her break this bad habit.
Cindy is very good with other dogs and loves to run and play. She would be a wonderful companion to a dog of her size and energy level. So far she has been afraid of the cats and avoids them. She is learning to play with toys and loves her chewies.
This girl has a ton of personality and potential but will need a home with someone who is knowledgeable about dog behavior. It will only take a couple of situations where she is chased or grabbed and she will regress to her keep away behavior. I will be glad to help with her adjustment and continued training in her new home.
If you're up for a challenge with a really fun girl please call Karin at 540-272-0470 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info. Cindy is spayed and up to date on her vet work.
