Zoey is so hard to describe; she's just so over the top everything! She's friendly, fun-loving, wildly energetic, and barking puppy excitement. Sometimes she's intensely focused; other times she's all over the place. She's loving. She's adorable. She ended up in Rescue because of all that, forcing her previous owners to realize that they couldn't keep this bundle of energy in an apartment in the city.
Zoey will need two things to be an amazing dog — room to run and an owner who is devoted to training her. Without enough exercise, she has the potential to become a little neurotic. But she's easy enough to exercise. She loves chasing any kind of ball and Frisbees too. She will even chase the stream of water from the hose for as long as you like—a real help in getting her safely exhausted on a hot summer day. She also likes tug of war games. She would probably do wonderfully in dog sports—agility, flyball, or anything that channels her energy. She is both treat and toy motivated which will help with training. She is good with other dogs and will run and play with them, but far prefers the attention of people.
Zoey is a very Velcro dog and doesn't want to be far from her people. She was not crate trained in her previous home and was slightly destructive when left alone. She has made progress with crating, but still has a way to go. She sleeps quietly all night in a crate in her foster mom's bedroom. She can also be left alone for a couple hours during the day, either crated or in a restricted area of the house. With time and training, she should do even better, but for now she should not be left home alone all day.
Zoey loves all people and lived with a three year old child. She is also fine with dog-savvy cats. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative. She is mostly house trained, and getting better by the day.
